52 is different from other reading programs: It lasts all year long, offers loads of reading suggestions through prompts, and provides a space for you to share favorite books with your community.
Yolo County Library is excited to announce a new K-2 library resource. PebbleGo is a database specifically geared toward the needs of K-2 learners. It helps them learn foundational research skills and provides critical early-reader support like audio voiceovers and text highlighting.
You can access more than 300,000 e-books and audiobooks available on The Palace Project, a free mobile phone app, thanks to a grant from the California State Library.
Palace Project has integrated Yolo County Library’s Overdrive, SimplyE, enki books, audiobooks, and more all in one place. Find it in the Apple Store or Google Play

We want to inform you of a recent development impacting libraries nationwide, including the Yolo County Library. Baker & Taylor, our primary book wholesaler, is unexpectedly closing its operations. For many years, they’ve played a vital role in helping us stock our shelves efficiently and stretch every dollar in our materials budget.
We are actively working to navigate this change to ensure continued access to the books you love. However, during this transition, you will notice delays in the arrival of new releases and requested titles.
We have shifted materials ordering to our secondary vendor and other sources. Nonetheless, we expect continued delays during this process.
Meanwhile, explore the library’s available materials:
Explore Link+. Through Link+, you are connected with other CA libraries outside of Yolo County Library. Using your library card, you can place requests for available materials and have them delivered to your Yolo County Library location of choice.
The first day of school is a big milestone—whether it’s your child’s very first day ever, or just the first day of a brand-new grade. Read more about how to support children and yourself on our Explore Literacy/Explora Literacia Familiar page.
Your library’s free all-ages Summer Reading Program runs from June 1 – August 15. Free, weekly special events will take place at library branches throughout the program. All community members are encouraged to sign up to read, log their reading, and complete fun activities to earn prizes.
This year’s theme, Color Our World, celebrates creativity, curiosity, and diversity through books, activities, and community engagement.
Summer reading programs are designed to inspire a love of reading, even among reluctant readers. Research shows that participation helps children and teens retain and improve their literacy skills during the summer months. Adults also benefit by rediscovering the joys of reading and modeling positive reading habits for children.
Beginning on August 1st, access to emagazines will switch from Flipster to OverDrive & Libby.
However, some popular titles are not available on OverDrive and the library will continue to offer these titles on Flipster:
The Atlantic Monthly
Consumer Reports Buying Guide
People
Real Simple
Sunset
What’s behind this change?
OverDrive provides convenient access to many more titles than YCL has ever been able to offer—including hundreds of children’s titles and Spanish-language titles, and titles in world languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and more.
