Zip Books

Looking for a book that the library doesn't own? The Zip Books Program proves quick access to books not available in Yolo County Library's catalog.

Simply request the item at a library service desk or using the link below. If your request is approved, the item will be shipped directly to you at no cost via Amazon. When your're finished, returen the book to a staff member at a service desk and ask for a return receipt (please do not use a book drop).

Guidelines

  • Please check the Yolo County Library catalog and the Link+ catalog for availability before placing your request. The item cannot be in the Yolo County Library catalog.
  • The item may be a book, a large print book, or a book on CD.
  • The item must conform to Yolo County Library's Collection Development Policy.
  • Textbooks, workbooks, fillable books, and pre-orders are not eligible.
  • Books must cost less than $50; books on CD and books in world languages must cost less than $75.
  • You must have a Yolo County Library card in good standing (no more than $25.00 owed in fees)
  • Limit one Zip Book per library card at a time, up to 5 per month.

A shared catalog where you can request books and audio-visual material from any of California’s 60+ academic and public libraries in and pick it up from your local branch. 

Updates

The $1 a day late fee for LINK+ items has been eliminated. Lost or damaged materials will still have fines.

Read Around Yolo

Read Around Yolo (RAY) is our book club in a bag program.

You can check out tote bags that contain 10 paperback copies of a book and discussion materials, including author information, questions, tips on facilitating discussion, and a sign-out sheet to help keep track of the bag’s contents.

Reserve a Ray Bag

Guidelines

Requesting a RAY bag

  • Any Yolo County Library cardholder can borrow a book club bag.
  • If you have any questions, please contact staff at ReadersAdvisoryYCL@gmail.com.
  • Bags can be picked up or returned at any of our locations.
  • Bags may be reserved up to two years in advance.

Checking out a RAY bag

  • Each bag will be checked out on the library card of the person who reserves it. That person is responsible for the bag and all of its contents.
  • Only one RAY bag can be checked out at a time.
  • Bags must be checked out as a whole; individual contents cannot be checked out separately.
  • Bags and their contents have a six-week loan period, with no renewals.

Returning a RAY bag

  • Make sure all of the contents are present before returning a bag.
  • Please contact the library for replacement costs.
