The California State Library is providing free online 24/7 tutoring for California K-12 students, available through public libraries. The service is named HomeworkCA. Through this program, library patrons will have access to over 250+ tutoring subjects and a host of test prep materials provided by The Princeton Review. Access to HomeworkCA is available now and will continue through July 2027.
Yolo County Library has made this exciting service available through our website. Find it on the Online Resources page. Many families cannot afford to hire private tutors and may not have the resources to get their children to free in-person options. Free online tutoring can help level the playing field by connecting under-resourced youth with the services they need to succeed in their classes.

Lean juntos de 15 a 20 minutos al día. Puede ser antes de dormir, después de la escuela o mientras esperan una cita.

¿Con qué personaje te identificas?

The start of a new school year is an exciting time for children and families. New teachers, new friends, and new adventures are just around the corner! As backpacks are packed and school supplies are ready, one of the most important tools for success doesn’t come from a store—it starts at home with reading together.
Family literacy is more than learning to read. It’s about creating meaningful moments through stories, conversations, songs, and everyday experiences that help children build language, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Easy Ways to Make Reading Part of Your Day
Read together for 15–20 minutes each day. It doesn’t have to be at bedtime—read during breakfast, after school, or while waiting for appointments.
Talk about the story. Ask questions like:
What was your favorite part?
What do you think will happen next?
Which character reminds you of someone you know?
Read everywhere. Street signs, recipes, grocery lists, menus, and even cereal boxes help children practice reading in real life.
Sing, rhyme, and tell stories. Songs, nursery rhymes, and family stories build vocabulary and listening skills.
Visit your local library. Libraries offer free books, storytimes, homework support, and fun family activities all year long.
