Yolo County Library

Library Updates

Change in book supplier

Posted by egray on

We want to inform you of a recent development impacting libraries nationwide, including the Yolo County Library. Baker & Taylor, our primary book wholesaler, is unexpectedly closing its operations. For many years, they’ve played a vital role in helping us stock our shelves efficiently and stretch every dollar in our materials budget.

We are actively working to navigate this change to ensure continued access to the books you love. However, during this transition, you will notice delays in the arrival of new releases and requested titles.

We have shifted materials ordering to our secondary vendor and other sources.  Nonetheless, we expect continued delays during this process.

Meanwhile, explore the library’s available materials:

  • Explore Link+.  Through Link+, you are connected with other CA libraries outside of Yolo County Library. Using your library card, you can place requests for available materials and have them delivered to your Yolo County Library location of choice.
  • Search for ebooks or audiobooks on Overdrive /Libby or the Palace Project app.
  • Browse our online catalog to see what we have available now in our collection. Click on a book and find similar authors and new-to-you books.
  • Use Zip Books for books that are not in our catalog and that meet the Zip Books guidelines.

Thank you for your patience as we adjust to this unexpected plot twist!
