Project Background

2001 – Consultants presented a County-wide library facility plan that recognized the community need for a library south of I-80, with an emphasis on serving youth and recreational readers of all ages.
2010 – Yolo County Library opens South Davis Montgomery Branch, operating out of the Marguerite Montgomery Elementary Library. The library is open for 4 hours twice a week.
2015 – South Davis Ad Hoc Committee presents Library Services Report to Board of Supervisors. The report includes a timeline with a South Davis stand-alone branch opening in 10 years.
2017Yolo County Library Facilities Master Plan 2018-2035 calls for a new facility in Phase 1 (2018-2025).
2020 – Library meets with community partners about services needed for a South Davis branch. Architect develops first concepts for a library in Walnut Park.
2022 – Yolo County Library awarded $8.7 million as part of the Building Forward Grant from the California State Library.
2023 – City of Davis pledges $1.5 million towards the project.

Project Description

The library will be located at 2700 Lillard Drive, at the west end of Walnut Park and will be approximately 12,000+ square feet. The total cost of the project is $21,330,000*
