Yolo County Archives and Historical Collection Undocumented Objects
Termination Notice for Undocumented Objects
The Yolo County Historical Collection (YCHC) conducted its first full inventory of the collection from 2018-2022 and a second inventory from 2023-present. The Yolo County Archives and Records Center (YCA) has conducted ongoing inventory projects with its last full inventory in 2019. During the inventory, YCHC and YCA found numerous objects that were Found in Collection (FIC) with no accession numbers or information about provenance. The lack of documentation prevents YCHC and YCA from using these items to serve their mission statements, all the while bearing the costs and responsibilities of caring for them including storage, record maintenance, insurance, periodic inventory and general overhead. The YCHC and YCA hereby wish to return these objects to the rightful owner or gain proper title for these objects in order to better use or deaccession them. Freeing up collection storage space will allow the YCHC and YCA to focus their limited resources on caring for, and providing public access to, its legally owned collection.
By following the notice procedure under California Civil Code section 1899, et. seq., the YCHC and/or YCA has posted notice in local newspapers and online for FIC objects. Please see the following list of objects for descriptions and images. Interested parties who wishes to claim the property, should submit Historical Collection inquiries to Sarah Bartlett (sarah.bartlett@yolocounty.gov); and Archives inquiries to Heather Lanctot (heather.lanctot@yolocounty.gov).
