Join Yolo County Library and the Davis Phoenix Coalition for a screening of two award-winning documentaries I’m Just Anneke and The Family Journey.

I’m Just Anneke (11 minutes). Anneke is 12. She loves ice hockey and has a loving, close-knit family. She’s also a hardcore tomboy. Everybody who meets her assumes she’s a boy. That makes puberty even harder for her than most girls. Anneke’s not sure if she wants to be a girl, a boy, or something in-between when she grows up.

The Family Journey

The Family Journey: Raising Gender Nonconforming Children (14 minutes). The short follows the journey of the parents and siblings of young people who are questioning if they’re a boy, a girl, or something in between. What about your thinking needs to change? How does your whole family come together to nurture and support them?

This is the Second in a three-part film & discussion series on transgender youth inclusion and gender bias project. Discussion to follow the screenings.

Library events are open to all. To maintain a safe and respectful environment, the Library Behavior Code will be strictly enforced.
