Intermediate CAD and Aerodynamics
315 E 14th St
Davis, CA 95616
USA
October 21th and 22th. Registration required. Join us in the Blanchard Room.
This camp is a new-and improved version of our last camp. Students will have interactive lectures on 3d printing, computer-aided design (CAD), aerodynamics and more! After a preliminary lecture, participants will work in teams to design their own projectiles for an air powered cannon using what they have learned. We also cover the engineering design process by having students design and test their projectiles a second time to get better performance!
Since the last camp, we have added a new lecture about using math to calculate center of gravity and center of pressure for the projectiles. We also added lectures on more CAD tools such as Extrude, Extrude remove, Revolve, Loft and Spline. Students will learn how Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3d printers work and considerations to design strong parts. Additionally, we will discuss other methods of additive manufacturing and properties of various polymers. No previous experience required!
