Accessibility Services
Yolo County Library strives to make the library’s collection and services accessible to all members of the community.
The library collection includes audiobooks on CD and remote access to digital audiobooks through the library’s Libby App and website.
The library's collection includes an array of large print books. These materials can be searched by using the search term Large Print.
Library users with special requests needing materials retrieved from library shelves or assistance with photocopying can ask at the Service Desk of any Yolo County Library branch.
Service animals are welcome at all Yolo County Library branches.
Please help maintain a pleasant and safe environment for all library users by observing the following behavioral guidelines for your service animal.
Animals, other than service animals assisting persons with disabilities, are not permitted inside Library facilities or within 10 feet of any door.
Keep your service animal with you and under your control at all times.
Keep your animal on the floor or on your person at all times.
If your service animal is a dog, keep your dog on a leash.
If your service animal's behavior directly threatens the health or safety of others, is out of control (barking, jumping, off-leash), or is not housebroken, it may not stay in the library.
Fraudulently misrepresenting guide, signal, or service dogs is a misdemeanor.
All Yolo County Library branches are wheelchair accessible and have wheelchair accessible bathrooms and parking for wheelchair accessible vans.
Wheelchair accessible public computers are located at the Davis, Winters, West Sacramento, Esparto
and Knights Landing branch libraries.
Most movies have subtitles. When used with a closed-caption decoder, these videos display dialogue and narration on the screen.
All branch libraries have one public computer with text-to-speech ability and magnification software called ZoomText Magnifier/Reader (by AI Squared).
ZoomText Magnifier and Zoom Text ScreenReader is a magnification screen reading software.

The Davis and West Sacramento branch libraries offer a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) device. The Topaz Desktop Video Magnifier offers a wide magnification range and is perfect for viewing newspaper print, photos, and maps.
The Davis and West Sacramento Libraries have meeting rooms equipped with Assisted Listening Devices.

AVBI members have access to web-based exercise programs to improve brain health and cognitive performance. Visual Impairment Resources
The Office of Services to the Blind (OSB) provides information and referral on services, programs, entitlements, and products of benefit to individuals who are blind or low vision and their families or service providers. OSB staff assists such individuals in understanding the availability of services, their eligibility for services, and the purpose and scope of the various service programs.

The white cane gives blind people the ability to achieve a full and independent life, allowing us to travel freely and safely.

The National Federation of the Blind will distribute a plastic, four-line, twenty-eight cell slate along with a saddle stylus to those that need them. That includes those that are blind and low vision who know Braille or want to learn Braille.
