Teens

The Arthur F. Turner Community Library accepts youth volunteers ages 14-17 for both short-term service to fulfill a community service requirement for school and for longer-term service. The library receives many applicants for a limited number of volunteer positions. There may be a waiting list, so apply early.

Please read these instructions thoroughly. Failure to follow all application instructions may result in being skipped over for the next applicant.

How to apply:

  • Fill out the [link] Youth Volunteer Application [/link].
  • Return the application to the Information Desk or email it to the youth volunteer coordinator at kate.bellock@yolocounty.gov
  • Include a short (1-3 paragraphs) cover letter about what the library means to you and why you chose the library to do your service hours.

When there is an opening, the volunteer coordinator will reach out to you to schedule an interview. The interview takes 10-20 minutes.

Community Service for WUSD students:

Apply early. Applications received less than a month before your deadline may not receive a response.

The library cannot accept students 18 or older as short-term volunteers. Applications received less than two months before your 18th birthday may not receive a response.

If you are 18 and wish to volunteer for the library, please see the Adult section below [link].
