Yolo County Library

Interlibrary Loan

What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
If you don’t find the title you are looking for in our catalog we can request it from another library system outside of Yolo County. Materials newer than 6 months or owned by the Yolo County Library cannot be requested.

What materials may I request?
Books published over 6 months ago, magazine articles, and microfilm. Most libraries will not lend CDs, DVDs or VHS because of their fragility.

How many items may I request?
There may be no more than 4 pending ILL requests at one time.

How much does it cost?
The service is free to all Yolo County Library users. However, lending libraries occasionally charge fees associated with obtaining books or photocopies of articles. In this case, you will be contacted to approve any charges before the request is processed.

How long does it take?
Depending on location and availability, it may take from 2 to 6 weeks to receive materials.

How to place an interlibrary loan request?
You may place your request through this link or in our catalog. Go to “Books and More” and select “Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Catalog”. Please note: if you have difficulty requesting online, please contact library staff for assistance. You may still request in person through your local branch staff.
