Who can use curbside pickup?
Curbside pickup is available for current physical Yolo County Library cardholders.
What if I have an e-card or if I got a library card online?
If you got a library card online, please call (530) 666-8005 or visit your local branch library during open hours to arrange to get a physical library card. Curbside Pickup is not available for e-cardholders. E-cardholders may borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and access other digital resources via the library’s website.
How do I request items for curbside pickup?
Search the library’s online catalog. When you find the item you want, click on the “request” link. You will be prompted to enter your library card and PIN. Make sure to choose the correct pickup location. You may also call (530) 666-8005 to request items. You will receive an email message or telephone call when your items are available.
How long do I have to pick up my request after I am notified?
You will have 9 days to pick up your request after notification.
Do I need to wear a mask?
All customers who are not fully vaccinated must wear a face covering. Face coverings need to cover your nose and mouth and can be made out of cloth materials.
I prefer to walk or bike to the library. Can I still use curbside pickup?
Yes. Look for the “Walk/Bike Pickup” sign. If there is a line, please remember to wait at least 6 feet behind the person in front of you and wear a mask.
I don’t have a cell phone. Can I still use curbside pickup?
Yes. If you do not have a cell phone, please email your library branch to make an appointment to pick up your materials. If you do not have a cell phone or email, please call (530) 666-8005 for assistance.
I would like to borrow materials but am unable to come to the library to pick them up.
If you are unable to get to the library, you may be interested in signing up for our Books by Mail program.
Can I borrow a Hotspot or Chromebook?
Yes. To find out if a Hotspot or Chromebook is available, call (530) 666-8005. These items are not available to request online.
Can I request a LINK+ item?
Yes. Please note that not all LINK+ libraries have resumed service so the availability of certain materials may be limited. Wait times may be increased due to the quarantining of materials.
What if I no longer need the materials I requested?
For requests that have not been filled, go to the library catalog and log in to your account with your library card number and PIN. Select your “requests” from the navigation menu. Select the box under “cancel” for each title you wish to cancel. Then select “Update list.” You will be prompted to confirm. If you have already received a notification that your items are ready for pick up, please call (530) 666-8005 to cancel your requests.
How do I change the pickup location of an item I requested?
For requests that have not been filled, go to the library catalog and log in to your account with your library card number and PIN. Select your “requests” from the menu. Drop down the “Pickup Location” menu next to the item you wish to change and select the new location. If you wish to change the pickup location of a request that is currently available for pick up, please call (530) 666-8005.
I selected to pick up my requests at the South Davis Montgomery Library, but it is closed. What do I do?
All South Davis Montgomery Library requests have been re-routed to the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library. If you would prefer to pick yours up at another location, please call (530) 666-8005.
I received notification that my items were ready for pickup. What do I do when I arrive?
When you arrive, there will be designated spaces for you to park or walk/bike to. Follow the posted instructions to let staff know you have arrived. Staff will respond with additional instructions.
What if I need assistance getting the materials during curbside pickup?
When you arrive to pick up your requested items, text “HERE” to the phone number listed on the curbside sign. After the prompt, text “HELP.” Library staff will be available to assist you.
I am picking up the requests for my child/grandchild/partner/parent/friend/other. Do I need to bring them with me?
No. Given the current public health situation, we are not requiring that the cardholder be present at the time of pickup. When you arrive for curbside pickup, please use the name of the person whose account the requests were placed under in the text.
All the curbside pickup slots are full. What should I do?
If you are in a car, please stay in your vehicle and wait at a safe distance until a slot opens up. If you are on foot or bike, please wait in the spaces marked, maintaining at least 6 feet of distance from the person in front of you.
Will a staff member be present at curbside pickup for questions?
Please call (530) 666-8005 with your questions or contact the library via our website.
How do I check out the items I requested?
Staff will check out the items to your account before they deliver them to your curbside pickup location.
How do I find out when my items are due?
Receipts will be included with the items in your pickup bag. Please note–while the borrowing period has been increased to 6 weeks, your items may be due on different dates. You may also log in to your library account with your library card number and PIN to check the due date of materials and find out the status of your requests.
Can I return items while picking up my requests?
Yes, but you must put them in the book return yourself. Staff will not be accepting returns curbside. Book returns at South Davis Montgomery and Patwin remain closed.
Can I drop off donations while I pick up my curbside delivery?
No. We are not currently accepting donations.
Can I do anything else at the library besides pickup my requests and return items?
Library buildings are open. WiFi access is available in the parking lot and additional resources may be accessed online.
Can I pay my fines curbside?
No, staff will not be able to process payments via curbside service. Fines may be paid online by logging in to your library account with your library card number and PIN. You may also pay in-person or call (530) 666-8085 and leave a voicemail. Staff will call you back to take your payment over the phone.
